University Health Network (UHN) is a research hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto and a member of the Toronto Academic Health Science Network. The mission of the **UHN’s Office of Research Trainees (ORT)** is to contribute towards research productivity and excellence at UHN by providing leadership and support in trainee-related matters.

**In practice, the ORT supports Research at UHN in four major areas**:
1. Provides support to Principal Investigators and trainees (graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and undergraduate students).
2. Promotes communication between UHN and trainees.
3. Reduces risk and increases efficiencies.
4. Supports trainee-led Peer-to-Peer education initiatives.

Reporting to the Director of the Office of Research Trainees, the Research Training Coordinator will support the management of the ORT operations in conjunction with the Lead of ORT Research Training Programs.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Organize webinars, information sessions and events for trainees and support staff.
- Coordinate the development of trainee-taught courses.
- Manage special projects (e.g. awards, workshops, collaborations) and ensure deadlines/targets are met.
- Evaluate the success of programming/services and contribute recommendations to optimize procedures and policies.
- Represent ORT and/or UHN research trainees on various committees.
- Maintain the ORT external and UHN intranet webpages and generate marketing materials and content for social media accounts (Twitter, LinkedIn).
- Be a resource for trainees on all relevant issues. Refer them to the appropriate bodies for assistance.
- Monitor and analyze financials/budgets.
- Perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Have a Bachelor’s of Science (B.Sc.) degree from a post-secondary institution **(required);**:

- Have 3-5 years related experience and/or a Masters degree of Science (M.Sc.).
- Have science research experience **(required)**.
- Have well-developed time management skills and proven ability to prioritize work in an efficient and organized manner (**essential);**:

- Be able to work both independently and in a team, as required;
- Have experience managing a high volume of inputs from a diversity of sources and will be able to meet deadlines with mínimal supervision;
- Be able to work well under pressure;
- Have experience marketing and promoting events and workshops, specifically with the use of social media;
- Have experience with updating websites and maintaining databases;
- Have demonstrated effective communication skills in written and oral presentations;
- Have demonstrated high level of judgment, tact and diplomacy in interacting with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders;
- Project management experience is considered **an asset;**:

- Experience using Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Canva, Google Analytics, and/or Word Press is considered **an asset**;
