The MAP Survey Research Unit (SRU) at Unity Health Toronto is currently seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Research Assistant I. The Research Assistant will be part of a dynamic Unit that oversees a variety of research and evaluation projects related to health equity and social determinants of health. The Research Assistant’s primary responsibilities will include recruitment and conducting interviews with patients at St. Joseph’s Health Centre who are experiencing homelessness (PPE and training will be provided), conducting follow-up interviews with study participants as well as office duties.

This is a 2-year Part-time temporary position, 3 days per week, with a possibility of extension. Anticipated start date: June 2023.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Conduct face-to-face computer-assisted interviews with patients at St. Joseph’s Health Centre who are experiencing homelessness.
- Conduct face-to-face and telephone follow-up interviews with study participants in locations across Toronto, including shelters.
- In-person check-ins with multidisciplinary care providers in the hospital to find potentially eligible patients to recruit into the study.
- Project-related administrative tasks including tracking of recruitment efforts, interviews and data collection progress, interview materials preparation, data entry, and quality control tasks.
- Contact healthcare providers and primary care providers’ offices to conduct telephone surveys.
- Potentially assist with patient chart reviews and data extraction.
- Active participation in ongoing interview skills development trainings.
- Adhere to project protocols, including ethics, security, data transfer/storage and quality control.
- Attend project management meetings with the research team.
- Assist with other project-related administrative tasks, as needed.

**Qualifications**
- Undergraduate Degree or 1 year of relevant experience OR demonstrable equivalent combination of specialized education and experience.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office are necessary.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of organization is essential to this position.
- Ability to work both independently and with others on a team.
- Community college or Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Health/Social Sciences field (Social Work, Nursing, Health Studies, Health Sciences, and related fields) is an asset.
- Relevant research experience, quantitative and/or qualitative is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced work environment.
- Weekday availability 3 days per week is necessary.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, and comfortable asking health-related, personal/sensitive questions in a one-on-one interview setting.
- Experience and comfort working with marginalized populations is an asset.
