The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, the Payroll Specialist will oversee the day-to-day payroll activities for approximately 200 employees located across Canada, USA, and the UK. They will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll, as well as maintaining a robust quarterly audit process.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Input, audit, and process monthly, semi-monthly, and bi-weekly payroll for all employees across the UK, US, and Canada
  • Ensure provincial, state and federal compliance globally
  • Report and remit to multiple state authorities during quarterly filing periods
  • Manage Canadian and US benefits programs enrolments and rate updates
  • Provide updates with regards to global payroll regulations
  • Partner with HR for onboarding and off-boarding
  • Assist with the preparation and execution of year end audits and tasks
  • Prepare monthly reports for Finance or other departments as needed
  • Conduct regularly scheduled audits of payroll records to ensure continued accuracy
  • Maintain payroll system by updating configurations and creating support tickets for any errors
  • Improve payroll processes and procedures and drive continuous improvement

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Minimum 2 years of payroll experience, specifically with processing payroll and conducting audits
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field
  • Knowledge of pension and benefits plans
  • Experience using payroll software; experience using Dayforce an asset
  • Strong technical skills with Microsoft Office, specifically with Excel reporting
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation – an asset
