About We Worthy Women:

We Worthy Women is a Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to gender equality and addressing gender-based violence. We are a small team with big ideas and a passion to impact change to support community health and well-being in Nova Scotia and beyond. We have received funding for this role through Women and Gender Equality Canada’s Capacity Building fund to support the growth and sustainability of our organization. 


The Opportunity:

We Worthy Women is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We are seeking an individual for this position who has relevant experience in non-profit growth and development and an awareness of gender equality and the gender-based violence sector. The Program Coordinator will support our Program Director to develop organizational policies, secure operational funding, develop partnerships, and conduct strategic planning activities. 


Responsibilities:

Support organizational growth and development

  • Develop policies and processes to manage people and projects within the organization
  • Assist in board development and management
  • Develop/utilize tools to oversee projects and measure impact
  • Collaborate on the development of a five-year strategic plan for the organization

Project and program development

  • Conduct research to support funding applications and the development of future projects and initiatives, in line with the strategic plan

Grant writing and fundraising

  • Conduct an environmental scan of relevant grants and funding opportunities that are available
  • Develop and streamline grant writing processes and content for funding applications
  • Support the Program Director in conducting sponsorship outreach to secure more sustainable, operational funding sources

Relationship building and partnership development

  • Develop and sustain relationships with other community organizations and individuals working within the sector
  • Engage with various levels of government for program development and funding opportunities
  • Develop partnerships to collaborate on impact initiatives 
  • Attend relevant events, conferences, and information sessions to build relationships and support the work of We Worthy Women


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent
  • Experience in non-profit growth and development
  • Experience in non-profit fundraising and grant writing
  • Awareness and understanding of the gender-based violence sector
  • Experience conducting research for program and policy development would be considered an asset
  • Experience working with different levels of government would be considered an asset
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Open to a flexible and dynamic work environment
