We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in Toronto, Ontario. Positioned within the finance industry, this role provides a hybrid work model, allowing the incumbent to work both remotely and from our Toronto office. You will work closely with our small, collaborative team to ensure seamless operation of the association.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the bi-weekly payroll administration, including data entry, deductions, and reconciliations, while providing expertise in the interpretation of corporate policies affecting compensation and benefits.
• Keep up-to-date with changes in payroll legislation and regulations and keep respective teams informed.
• Handle accurate and timely remittance of payroll changes and adjustments, taxes, Record of Employment (ROEs), benefits, and pension contributions.
• Liaise with employees to assist with Online Self Service registration to the payroll system.
• Respond to a variety of payroll inquiries, including reviewing and actioning items sent to the payroll inbox.
• Prepare and complete reports, journal entries, statements and summaries related to all payroll accounts, including third-party related disbursements.
• Document all procedures related to payroll, remittances, and year-end.
• Coordinate with the Finance team and external auditors to gather employee samples and reports needed to aid in the validation of internal controls.
• Ensure year-end reconciliation and processing of T4 earnings, Employer Health Tax, T2200s, and other related tasks.
• Utilize accounting software systems effectively to manage tasks and maintain accurate records.
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
• Experience with ADP - Financial Services
• Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now
• Knowledge of Ceridian and Dayforce software
• Ability to administer 401k - RRSP
• Experience with About Time software
• Understanding of basic Accounting Functions
• Auditing skills
• Familiarity with Benefit Functions
• Competency in Ceridian Payroll System
• Proficiency in Excel Formulas and Excel VBA
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Ability to perform Benefits Analysis
• Experience in Process Documentation
