Position
General Foreman, Civil/Earthworks, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Superintendent, Civil / Earthworks, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Superintendent to develop comprehensive project plans for civil and earthworks activities for the Goose project; Coordinate scheduling of operators and equipment to achieve production goals for tonnes, grade, stripping and equipment utilization in a safe, environmentally sound, and efficient manner; Assist with planning, scheduling, and managing all civil construction and maintenance projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget; Lead the team, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure project objectives are met; Monitor key operating targets including safety, attendance, productivity, quality control, and environmental compliance; Maintain Standard Operating Procedure (SOP’s) and Job Hazard Analysis(JHA’s); Provide support for the Superintendent Civil works by distributing drawing and blueprint revisions; Oversee, dyke construction, heavy civil works, multi plat bridge profiles, pipe bedding and backfill; Ensure that all civil works meet quality standards and specifications, conducting regular inspections and quality checks; Efficiently allocate resources, including labour, equipment, and materials, to optimize project outcomes; and Adhere to B2Gold Nunavut health, safety and environment policies and procedures.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
Six (6 ) Years experience in construction earthworks, preferably in the mining industry operating heavy equipment including finishing excavator, wristed twist, hoe pack/ram, dozer, haul truck etc., and three(3) years’ experience in supervision of skilled and Lead Hand positions; A Heavy Equipment Operator trade qualification; A Nunavut WSCC Supervisory Level II qualifications, or ability to obtain same; Previous experience working on a remote site, in Arctic conditions with limited access to resources.
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $118,508.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $43 and overtime rate of $64.5) in a work year.
