Job Title: Lead Surveyor

B2Gold is a leading international gold producer seeking a highly skilled Lead Surveyor to join our team in Nunavut, Canada.

Job Summary

We are looking for a seasoned surveyor with extensive experience in open pit mining to lead our surveying team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with senior surveyors and civil earthworks supervisors to scope work assignments, providing cut and fill stakes for earthworks activities, and conducting daily and weekly as-built surveys to maintain updated surface data.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with senior surveyors and civil earthworks supervisors to scope work assignments
  • Provide cut and fill stakes for earthworks activities
  • Conduct daily and weekly as-built surveys to maintain updated surface data
  • Perform weekly and monthly as-built surveys for volume tracking
  • Carry out weekly prism monitoring using a total station to detect any movement and install prisms or other monitoring devices as necessary
  • Ensure required instruments are taken according to the scheduled readings
  • Compute as-built and design surfaces for volumetric reporting
  • Maintain organized files within the controller and the PC
  • Support the Open Pit Survey team
Requirements
  • 6 years' experience in surveying in open pit mining
  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Mine Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency in using surveying instruments (Trimble controller and Total Station) and related software (AutoCAD, Deswick)
  • Advanced RPAS Pilot's License is required
  • Experience with DJI and TBC is considered an asset
