Your Opportunity:
This Occupational Therapist II (OT II) position with the Prehabilitation Coordination Team (PCT) is an Intake Team Lead role, reporting directly to the Provincial Director of Collaborative Prehabilitation and Rehabilitation Patient Services. The interdisciplinary PCT Team is responsible for development and delivery of provincial, virtual Prehabilitation patient services. The mode of patient care service delivery is fully virtual. Prehabilitation (Prehab) helps patients to prepare their mind and body for surgery. The AHS Prehabilitation Program offers service options across four domains – Feeling Ready, Being Active, Eating Well, and Living Well. The PCT Team offers universal and targeted services for pre-surgical patients across Alberta. As the OT II Intake Team Lead you will be responsible for referral management, clinical triage and patient flow through the program’s service options. You will collaborate across the PCT team to lead the ongoing development of clinical intake for the Prehabilitation Program, incorporating an evidence informed approach. We are looking for an enthusiastic clinician to build partnerships with clinicians and leaders and establish Prehab services that impact patient and healthcare system outcomes. The AHS Prehabilitation Program is relatively new, with an ongoing focus on provincial implementation and evaluation. This OT II position requires strengths in program development, innovative practice, flexible thinking, and in negotiating change as we continue to grow as a team and program.
Description:
As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator and/or advocate in your program or service area.
Required Qualifications:Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:Experience working on a virtual team is preferred. Connect Care experience with knowledge of referral workflows, data reporting is an asset. Technical aptitude is an asset. Experience working as a triage clinician, referral management or case manager.
