AltaGas - Scheduler, Rail Logistics

AltaGas is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Scheduler, Rail Logistics In this role, you will report to the Team Lead, Rail Logistics, and play a crucial part in managing the movement of LPG products across North America. You will collaborate with a dynamic team of marketers, analysts, and schedulers to ensure efficient and effective logistics operations.

This position requires excellent interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

What You'll Do:

Support the day-to-day scheduling of NGL products (propane and butane) via rail between origin and destinations across North America

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and partners

Communicate regularly with operations to ensure NGL transportation needs are aligned with operational activities

Work collaboratively with commercial and operations teams to plan and execute product movements in the best interest of organizational execution and margin optimization

Maintain and optimize freight rates with Class 1 railroads to minimize total shipping costs and maximize product margins

Support and manage service levels with Class 1 railroads to maximize product movement and mitigate optional service charges

Maintain KPIs related to NGL movements (fleet utilization, cycle times, dwell times, etc.)

Work closely with accounting, finance, and Class 1 railroads to ensure accurate invoicing and payment

Manage documentation and Bills of Lading (BOL) for shipment tracking

What You Bring:

Post-secondary degree required.

Minimum 3 years of experience in a related role with a focus on rail logistics in North America

Previous experience collaborating with Class 1 railroads

Experience in railcar maintenance and subleasing is an asset

Knowledge of the NGL industry and supply/demand dynamics is an asset

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Strong attention to detail, proven ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet critical deadlines

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Self-motivated and able to contribute both individually and as a team player with multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment

Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required.
