Job Summary
Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Coordinator will lead the coordination and administration of the PI’s ongoing research projects, mainly the “Stronger at Home: A randomized controlled trial to improve functional outcomes for community‐dwelling older adults after hip fractures”. This will include tasks such as: coordination of a clinical research project; assisting in protocol development and implementation; collection and storage of research data; participation in team meetings; use of independent judgement to adapt processes as the need arises; development and preparation of presentations for use in information and training sessions and professional conferences; communication/liaison with external agencies and institutions regarding project research. This position will also perform administrative duties, such as scheduling and bookkeeping.
Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Coordinate the trial and take a leadership role in assessing, developing, and executing strategies to support new initiatives.
•Ensure the research projects runs in accordance with the protocol, and keep on track according to project timelines.
•Independently perform basic data analysis and writing reports.
•Collaborate on solutions to improve existing processes and lead the implementation of solutions.
•Communicate research results and current information to internal and external stakeholders.
•Liaise with healthcare providers, researchers, and outside agencies in order to stay aware of developments and foster collaborative research efforts.
•Develop and maintain data logs for the PI.
•Review literature related to the project topics, prepare summaries of these reviews and collaborate with research teams to determine impact on research projects.
•Direct and delegate tasks to research team members to prepare presentation materials.
•Provide regular updates at team meetings.
•Independently perform tasks related to patient recruitment and assessment as needed.
•Develop and prepare resource materials (products of the research). Develop and prepare materials for presentations.
•Prepare, submit, renew, and amend Research Ethics Board (REB) applications.
•Liaise with external agencies and institutions for the purpose of gathering information related to project activities and to coordinate meetings.
•Carry out project plans within allocated budgets. Perform administrative duties including scheduling, ordering supplies, bookkeeping, and record keeping.
•Undertake other duties in support of the PI’s research projects.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Master’s degree in a relevant field. PhD degree considered an asset.
•Background in physiotherapy or relevant field is an asset.
•Previous experience (minimum 3 to 5 years) working in a research environment, conducting research and coordination.
•Knowledge of medical terminology is considered an asset.
•Specialized training or experience in scientific writing, performing systematic reviews, qualitative or quantitative analysis and project management is considered an asset.
•Understanding of research design, procedures, guidelines, and standards governing clinical research is considered an asset.
•Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle required.
•Familiarity with the healthcare system is preferred.
•Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

•Computer and office skills, including excellent knowledge of word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and database applications. Experience with REDCap is considered an asset.
•Ability to delegate tasks and provide guidance to other research team members.
•Ability to work independently as needed.
•Ability to exercise sound judgment with regard to the need for supervision and guidance.
•Ability to work collaboratively with professionals in a team-oriented environment.
•Familiarity with data analysis (qualitative and quantitative).
•Interviewing skills for data collection.
•Experience in office administration and bookkeeping.

•Prioritize work and time based on multiple demands.
