POSITION SUMMARY
The Talent Coordinator is located in the Edmonton office and reports to the Direct of Talent. The Talent Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the organization and execution of the student and associate programs, including recruitment, hiring, orientation / onboarding, and for providing general support to the Director of Talent.
Generally, the hours of work for this role will be Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; due to the nature of the role, some flexibility may be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as the key contact for all of Dentons Edmonton’s student programs Coordinates start-to-end logistics for student recruitment including, but not limited to: arranging career fairs and on-campus interviews, organizing firm tours, monitoring volume of applications, scheduling and sending in-firm interview confirmations, and related correspondence and event planning; Liaises with Law Schools nationally for student recruitment, sponsorship, advertising and/or awards; Liaises with incoming summer and articling students; Liaises with internal Student Committee and schedules and coordinates regular Committee meetings; Prepares employment letters, including offer letters and decline letters, for students and lateral associates; Coordinates the student mentoring program with guidance from Director of Talent; Assists with the associate mentoring program with guidance from Director of Talent; With direction from the Director of Talent, plans and coordinates student orientation; Assists Director of Talent with professional development and skill building sessions for students and associates; Coordinates the student evaluation process and assists Director of Talent with the mid-year and year-end associate performance management process; Oversees Law Society deadlines and filings and coordinates payment of license processing fees for students; Provides support for lateral legal recruitment in terms of coordinating interviews and keeping recruitment records; General administrative duties, including booking meeting rooms, preparing and processing payments, documenting processes, maintaining student budget reports, assisting with event logistics; Coordinates with Profile and Client Development team to manage inventory for the student programs’ marketing materials, to ensure the student program website is up-to-date and manages the internal intranet page for student recruitment; Responds to enquiries from lawyers, students and other departments in relation to the student program and legal recruitment matters; Assists Calgary Talent Management team members with HR-related tasks and special projects and events as necessary; and Other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 2 years of administrative experience within a professional services organization and/or Human Resources experience, including recruitment; Post-secondary degree or diploma and/or equivalent combination of education/work experience; Experience in a law firm or professional services environment considered an asset; Energetic, self-motivated, and results-oriented with the ability to take initiative; Excellent organization skills and attention to detail; Ability to consistently meet the needs of internal clients, including flexibility and perseverance, and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions as required; Highly effective project management, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines; Proactively seeks and implements efficient processes and procedures and has demonstrated the ability to document these; Able to build and maintain positive working relationships; Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels; Ability to work effectively, independently and in collaboration with colleagues, students, all levels of management, lawyers and other stakeholders; and Understanding of the principles of confidentiality and demonstrates commitment to privacy and ethical conduct.We thank all applicants for their interest, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
