Job Summary

The Brick Oven Bakery opened its doors the summer of 1982. We are proud to bake and cook from scratch using many of our original recipes as well as continuing to develop new customer favourites.

Our team is looking for a Kitchen Assistant / Cook to help with preparing and serving our quality products. The current position is available for full time work.

The right candidate will have a positive attitude, be organized, able to work well within a team as well as able to take the initiative to look for things to do on their own.

If you are passionate about cooking and want to grow in a supportive team, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and standards.
  • Serve food to customers in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Ensure all food handling practices comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with meal preparation, including chopping, mixing, and cooking ingredients.
  • Familiar with weights and measurements, recipe conversion and portion control,
  • Control cooking temperatures, food handling, and preservation techniques.
  • Assist with deep cleaning of kitchen stations, utensils, and equipment.
  • Contribute ideas or improvements to processes or presentations when requested..
  • Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and assist with ordering as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing any inquiries or concerns promptly.

Skills

  • Proven experience in serving, food preparation, and cooking within a restaurant or kitchen environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with team members and customers.
  • Familiarity with various cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • A passion for the food industry and commitment to delivering high-quality meals.
  • Ability to work as part of a team while also being self-motivated when necessary.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
