Here's your chance to join a growing and dynamic team within a not-for-profit Agricultural Society that proudly reinvests in both its people and the community. Our Event Services Staff play a vital role in the successful execution of events across all Western Fair District (WFD) facilities.
Working under the direction of the Event Operations Manager, you will support the setup, operation, and teardown of events, while also ensuring our venues remain clean, safe, and welcoming for all guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary on-site contact for promoters, tenants, suppliers, and WFD-operated events when the Event Operations Manager is not present
- Assist with minor facility maintenance including painting projects, lighting replacements, ceiling tile replacements, and other light repairs
- Report any major repair needs to the Event Operations Manager
- Complete required documentation including Caretaker Log Book, Forklift Log, Aerial Lift Device Log, and others as assigned
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, and report restocking needs
- Support all phases of event setup and teardown on WFD grounds
- Perform cleaning duties in all event spaces, including:
- Sweeping, mopping, dusting
- Washroom cleaning
- Operation of floor scrubbers and sweepers
- Maintain the outdoor appearance of event facilities, including:
- Snow and garbage removal
- Dump bin replacement, as needed
- Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment by collaborating with colleagues and participating actively to meet goals
- Represent the Western Fair District professionally as an ambassador in the community
- Follow all WFD policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3–6 months of relevant experience in event operations, maintenance, or a related field
- Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Ability and willingness to obtain WFD Forklift and Aerial Lift Device certification
- Previous experience operating forklifts or aerial lifts (an asset)
- Experience in the event/show industry (an asset)
Working Conditions
- Work may involve standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods
- Frequent bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching
- Regular lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of items weighing up to 50 lbs
- Work environment may include:
- Exposure to moving machinery
- Temperature and humidity fluctuations
- Dust, dirt, and animals
- Flexible shift availability required, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
