This hands-on leadership role is ideal for a motivated professional with experience in security operations, emergency preparedness, and team supervision who thrives in a dynamic event and entertainment setting.

Position Summary

The Security and Traffic Supervisor is responsible for supporting the safety, security, and traffic operations across the Western Fair District. This role supervises, schedules, and trains security and traffic staff, ensures proper emergency preparedness across the organization, and works closely with external emergency service providers and contractors to maintain a safe environment for all staff, guests, and stakeholders.

The standard schedule for this role is Wednesday through Sunday, 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with flexibility required for special events and operational responsibilities — including the annual Western Fair.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise security and traffic staff covered under the collective agreement, ensuring compliance with performance expectations, scheduling, and workplace standards.
• Maintain a strong customer service focus while enforcing safety and security protocols.
• Train, schedule, and coach permanent and temporary security and traffic staff.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness training for staff and tenants, including:
• Fire drills and fire extinguisher training
• Emergency evacuation procedures
• Narcan administration
• First Aid/CPR
• Assist in developing and maintaining emergency response plans, standing orders, and security manuals.
• Conduct and document incident investigations.
• Liaise with event organizers and internal departments to coordinate staffing and safety plans for events such as live racing and the annual Western Fair.
• Oversee third-party contractors including security vendors, EMS staff, London Police Service, and London Fire Department.
• Ensure all contracted personnel are in compliance with OHSA and other regulatory requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, licensing requirements, and security protocols.
• Participate in safety committee meetings and promote a proactive culture of safety and preparedness.
• Be available for on-call emergency response as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in security, law enforcement, emergency management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Valid Ontario Security License.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or venue security.
• Minimum 1–2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
• Experience in emergency preparedness or safety training is an asset.
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead by example and remain calm and professional under pressure.
• Experience working in unionized environments preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital scheduling/reporting tools.
• Valid Ontario Driver's License.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification and Narcan training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to obtain AGCO/ORC license if required.
