We are currently looking for a full time Estimator/Contract Administrator to join our growing team
Our ideal hire would have an in-depth understanding of construction management procedures and experience in planning, scheduling, and assessing project specific needs such as materials, licenses, permits, and equipment. We are looking for a motivated self starter, who works well within a team or independently.
As an Estimator/Contract Administrator, you will be responsible for:
- Estimating cost of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications.
- Accurately interpreting detailed technical specifications for bid documents.
- Full quantity take-offs, ensuring timely and accurate estimates, proposals and bid documents.
- Adhering to the tendering process and setting up cost monitoring reporting systems and procedures.
- Generating Requests for Information (RFIs) to the Client/Engineer of Record on scope elements related to construction package. Lead the response and closure of associated RFI's.
- Gathering quotes from various subcontractors and suppliers and implementing them into bids.
- Collaboratively completing the full-cycle bid process.
- Serving as the primary point of contact to clients during the entire bidding process.
- Understanding the labour variances between project types and apply appropriate corrective factors.
- Assembling all elements of an estimate including a lead sheet to summarize all the elements.
- Debriefing with the Chief Estimator after award of contract/job to discuss quoted material.
- Participating in presentation of estimates/proposals to senior management.
- Preparing change orders as required.
- Ensuring compliance with all client requirements, processes, and metrics.
- Communicating all customer requests and needs to appropriate team members.
- Participating in project development activities including scope definition and clarification, pre-construction planning, control estimate development.
- Follow awarded contracts, estimate extra work and change orders
- Negotiate and award contracts
- Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project
- Contract administer the projects, including preparation of contracts and purchase orders, tracking project costs, attending site meetings, ordering materials, client invoicing, dispute resolution, and other related project management tasks.
- Project manage your won projects.
- During project construction, liaise, consult and communicate with Site Supervisors for cost maintenance and future pricing; provide pricing and cost assistance for requested potential changes in scope.
- Other duties will be assigned as required
Qualified candidates will possess:
- 3+ years of relevant experience in estimating in the construction industry preferably in Road projects and infrastructure projects.
- A University Degree or College Diploma in Engineering or Construction Management or a combination of education and industry experience
- Experience using Bid2Win (B2W) estimation software is considered an asset
- Knowledge of and experience using CostX is considered an asset
- Proficiency with HeavyBid software is considered an asset
- Previous experience with quantity takeoff and estimating experience using HeavyBid, Timberline, Chief Estimator or MC2 Software, Hard Bid, AutoCAD, MicroStation.
- Experience in P3 procurement processes is an asset
- Experience with Microsoft Project
- Strong computer skills and an enthusiasm for innovation
