Payroll & Benefits Coordinator

**Responsibilities**:
- Assist with daily operational activities relating to the bi-weekly payroll and benefits of over 1,000 employees & contractors in multiple companies over Canada, US & abroad (expats)
- Weekly timecard collection
- General Payroll Department support, including collection & distribution of Payroll mail
- Processing Payroll & Benefits payables
- Assist with reconciliation of Payroll & Benefits related general ledger accounts
- Enter, maintain and organize employee files
- Prepare a variety of reports and remittances Payroll & Benefits vendors and government agencies (i.e. CRA, WCB, MSP)
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, management, employees and external agencies
- Assist with the administration of the group RRSP and 401(K) plans
- Develop and maintain internal systems and related controls, with respect to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and other external audit requirements
- Assist on special projects as they relate to the Payroll & Benefits functions
**Requirements**:
- Canadian Payroll Association certification new graduate or up to 3 years of experience with full-cycle Canadian payroll
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now or Avanti would be considered an asset
- A quick learner with an eagerness to learn and take ownership of time-sensitive processes
- Meticulous and detail-oriented; must have excellent organizational, problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to multi-task
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) with all audiences, with a proven ability to handle internal and external customers and questions kindly and effectively
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with US Payroll, Benefits, 401k would be considered an asset
- Knowledge of Employment Standards Act and Canada Revenue Agency Taxation Rules
- Experience with Oracle or other ERP system an asset

This position will work with five other Payroll professionals and will report to the Team Lead, Payroll & Benefits and the Director, Payroll & Benefits, located in the Burnaby head office.
