**July 7 - August 15**

The Quadrant Marine “We Float Boats Marine Service Pre-Employment Program” has been developed to provide the specific training needed to start your career in the Marine Service Industry. This paid training program focuses on three areas of growth; Professional Development, Skills Training, and Employment Readiness. This 6 week program will start in the classroom, where participants will work hands on to explore critical skills for any Marine Service Technician, and learn the professional skills to navigate the workspace. As the program continues participants will be matched with a work experience position at one of the many companies dedicated to Marine Service in the Lower Mainland.

These skills will directly prepare them to pursue their apprenticeship as a Marine Service Technician. A Marine Service Technician (MST) is a skilled, ticketed, tradesperson who builds, refits, maintains, surveys and/or repairs vessels up to 150 feet. They work in marinas, boatyards, service centres, and specialty businesses serving the ever-growing small craft/recreational marine industry here on the coast.

Certification provided for WHMIS, Basic First Aid, Fall Protection, Spill Response, and Forklift Operation, all of which are beneficial for entry level positions.

Participants will be assisted for 3 months following completion of their training program to gain and maintain employment or more training on their identified career path.

Participants will be unemployed or under-employed persons interested in working in the small craft marine industry.
- No prerequisite employment or education completion (high school completion is encouraged).
- English language proficiency, literacy, and numeracy will be assessed if required.
- Open to Youth age 16 - 29 inclusive
- Awareness that boatyard work is highly physical in nature, often outdoors in all seasons. Other roles within companies will also be explored (parts, sales).
