Role Overview Are you ready to take your technical skills offshore and make a real impact in the world of marine navigation? Sperry Marine is a leading supplier of navigation, communication, information, and automation systems for commercial marine and naval markets. Headquartered in the United Kingdom, we have an extensive international presence across Europe, the Americas and Asia, employing almost 400 people across ten countries. We're on the lookout for a Marine Service Technician to join our Richmond, BC-based team. If you're passionate about electronics, thrive in dynamic environments, and want to work with cutting-edge navigation systems aboard vessels around the world — this is your opportunity. What You’ll Do: Install, troubleshoot, and test advanced marine systems — including radar, steering, and control systems — aboard ships and onshore. Lead shipboard installations and support sea trials to ensure optimal performance. Deliver hands-on training to crews and build strong customer relationships. Represent Sperry Marine with pride, promoting our products and services globally. Work Pattern & Environment: This role is not your typical 9–5. Due to the nature of marine service work, you’ll need to be flexible and ready for: Anti-social hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Overnight stays — sometimes at short notice — depending on vessel schedules and service needs. Offshore travel, including launch services up to 100 miles out and boarding via Jacob’s ladder. Working at heights (up to 60 feet) or in confined spaces, and exposure to varying weather conditions. About You A proactive problem solver with a can-do attitude and a strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service to our clients, known for reliability, adaptability, and professionalism. Diploma, degree, or equivalent experience in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related technical field — or willingness to train in marine systems Strong verbal and written communication skills in English Ability to learn and assist in troubleshooting marine electronic systems (including PCB-level diagnostics) Basic understanding of technical schematics and blueprints — with training support available Physically able to lift 20–25 kg, work at heights, and in confined spaces Comfortable working aboard ships, offshore platforms, and in varied weather conditions Willing to travel (approx. 30%), work weekends, and respond to short-notice assignments Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record If this sounds like it matches your experience and what you’d love to do, we can’t wait to hear from you And because we believe that diverse teams perform better, we’d especially love to hear from you if you’re from an under-represented demographic. What You Get in Return CA $63,000 - CA $75,000 pension and benefits Company vehicle International and dynamic working environment with a fully supportive team of professionals. Solid opportunities in an environment that encourages and recognizes excellent performance. About Us With over 100 years of history and expertise in navigation, we have established our self as a major global provider of navigation solutions, including radars, compass systems, steering systems, speed logs, integrated bridge and control systems. We take pride in our commitment to provide 24/7support to all of our customers. People are at the heart of everything we do. Our company grows because of our employees' dedication and commitment to delivering for our customers, something we always remember. In return for working for us you will have access to a benefits package that provides you with flexibility to balance your professional career with your personal life, health & well-being benefits, and investment in your future development.
