**Your Opportunity**:
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Oversee operation of transit tractors and shuttle trailers to ensure safe transportation of passengers as they load, ride, and unload to various parking lot locations
- Responsible for recruitment, onboarding and training of seasonal transit staff
- Provide day to day leadership and supervision of seasonal staff, lead staff through daily tasks, develop break schedules and cover breaks as needed, provide ongoing staff development.
- Ensure safe operation of small/heavy equipment and trailers including completion of safety checks to minimize risk, injury, and property damage
- Complete and document daily safety checks of assigned vehicle(s) and equipment by conducting pre-trip inspections such as checking fuel and oil levels, inspecting tires, lights, and brakes. Reporting any equipment defects to the coordinator.
- Follow CH preventative maintenance program, keeping equipment and vehicles clean for safety and to maintain a professional appearance.
- Direct and control both automotive and pedestrian traffic to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow
- Assist with general maintenance, snow removal, and cleanup duties, as well as set-up, takedown, and operations for special events and functions as required
- Collect and transport garbage and recyclable material in parking lots for disposal/processing
- Move supplies, picnic tables and equipment as required
- Support with processing deliveries, including unloading supplies
- Respond to guest inquiries and assist with questions or concerns as needed
- Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.
- Other duties as assigned
**Your Qualifications**:
- Ability to operate small/heavy equipment is required
- Previous experience operating a truck with trailer hooked up is an asset, however training will be provided
- Strong communication skills, ability to provide direction to staff and to direct both vehicle (including busses) and pedestrian traffic
- Customer service mindset with strong problem-solving skills, ability to make decisions and action accordingly
- Ability to work in and adapt to the daily challenges associated with a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle difficult situations while remaining calm under pressure
- Previous experience in parking lot operations is an asset
- Working knowledge of ski resort operations an asset
- 1-2 years supervisory experience is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, providing support to other Conservation Halton departments as required
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of outdoor conditions
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
- A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class “G”, with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract is required. _*Abstract completed by Conservation Halton_.
