**Momiji Health Care Society** is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the independence, health, and quality of life of senior citizens, primarily of Japanese-Canadian descent. Our team is passionate about meeting the needs of our senior citizens and is committed to working collaboratively and openly with a results-oriented approach.
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized **Accounting Coordinator**.
This is a full-time, onsite position working from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with 37.5 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required with overtime eligibility. Additionally, occasional travel may be necessary to various locations in the community.
**The Role**:
As the Accounting Coordinator, you will be responsible for biweekly payroll processing, benefits management, assisting in maintaining personnel records and RISE HRIS system, accounts receivable and revenue collection, preparing reports, and handling other accounting and administrative tasks. The role requires significant integrity and tact, along with a good understanding of Momiji’s programs and functions.
The role will have one accounting program worker as its direct report.
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Biweekly payroll processing
- All Government payroll remittances
- Benefits management
- Liaise with the HR department to ensure efficient onboarding of all new employees, including establishing payroll records and benefit packages
- Assist in maintaining personnel records and HRIS system
- Report on sick days, vacation days, requests for leave of absence, etc.
- Accounts receivable and revenue collection
- Account reconciliation
- Cash management
- Audit preparation, including liaising with audit staff with regards to annual audit requirements
- Management of bank deposits, EFTs, and other banking transactions
- Tenant Annual Income Review for RGI rent calculation
- Issue tenant rent receipt for income tax purposes
**Skills & Abilities Required**:
- College diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources or combination of experience and on the job training
- First Aid and CPR
- Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check
- Tuberculosis Test
- 2-3 years of experience as an accounting coordinator or a similar role
- Experience working in seniors or subsidized housing environment, people management, and payroll administration
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage staff, including setting goals, mentoring, providing feedback and completing annual performance reviews
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
- Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
- Japanese-language skills are an asset.
