**GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE**

This role is responsible for the overall process management of the freight claims department. The scope includes all courier and freight shipments that incur loss or damage. The Freight Claims Specialist would be responsible for the daily filing of claims, ongoing follow up of claims in process, communication with customers throughout, reporting of results and adjustment of freight claim payouts, and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives.

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Responsible for the daily execution of filing, reconciliation, and closure for all freight claims
- Act as a main point of contact for customers with claim status updates/reporting
- Ensure that the essential duties of the role are met in a timely fashion. These include, but are not limited to:

- Assist carrier and/or insurance company with investigation to decide whether a carrier claim exists
- Collection of all required documents and information required in order to submit a claim
- Submit the claim and supporting documentation to carriers and/or insurance company
- Maintain a system of record and follow up for freight claims filings, including data concerning (1) Carrier, (2) Customer, (3) Shipment, (4) Product, (5) Claim result
- Identify carrier/customer/product trends in loss/damage and propose solutions to resolve repeat issues
- Document processes / work instructions in order to facilitate better training
- Maintain close and proactive communication with the parties involved on a claim, which can include but are not limited to the customer, carrier, insurance company, and Freightcom management for matters requiring escalation
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of transportation contracts, laws, rules and regulations at the level needed to effectively file and collect freight claims
- Speak directly to customers as a main point of contact in attempt to de-escalate situations

**Requirements**:

- Prior claims experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
- Must be able to work independently, be highly motivated, show initiative and be a “self-starter”
- Goal oriented, always willing to seek knowledge and improve upon skills in order to drive new ideas
- Must have the ability to manage, organize and control multiple ongoing tasks well under time constraints in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to exercise discretion over matters of significance

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year

- Monday to Friday

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Customer service: 3 years (preferred)
