**Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience**:

- Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
- Must have Red Seal or Inter-Provincial Trade Qualification for Carpentry
- Must have at least three years teaching experience as a Youth Train in Trades Carpentry Red Seal Instructor within a school district context
- Must have evidence of creating detailed course outlines that were previously approved by Skilled Trades BC
- Must be a BC certified teacher with a Bachelors degree in Education
- Demonstrated ability in curricular development related to Carpentry and the new Skilled Trades BC standards for Carpentry
- Demonstrated ability to prepare high school students for the Skilled Trades BC examination for Carpentry
- Demonstrated ability to establish/maintain appropriate contacts with the community in planning and implementing work experience placements for carpentry students
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to the philosophy of a career preparation program
- Demonstrated experience in trades shows and carpentry events (involvement in Skills Canada an asset)
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team with school and district staff as well as the Skilled Trades BC and community members
- Demonstrated commitment to and engagement in ongoing professional and personal learning for carpentry
- Knowledge of, and willingness to practice, all elements of the new reporting order, specifically utilizing proficiency scales and descriptive feedback for assessing and communicating student progress and learning
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and provide success for students who experience difficulties with learning and require additional support through student services
- Demonstrated ability to recognize, acknowledge, and plan for individual student differences and to adjust instructional practices accordingly
- Demonstrated experience in reading, contributing to, and fulfillment of Competency-Based Individual Education Plans (CBIEP's)
- Demonstrated experience with the UDL framework planning for access points and success for all learners
- Demonstrated experience and continued commitment to honoring First Peoples Principles of Learning and the Indigenization of curriculum
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrated commitment to use technology for teaching and to communicate consistently and effectively with parents and students
