**Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience**:
- Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
- Appropriate professional preparation in the teaching of Technology Education; a diploma certificate in Technology Teacher Education (TTED) is required.
- at least two years' experience teaching Secondary Technology (Woodwork and/or Power Technology)
- a commitment to ensuring WCB and WorksafeBC safety standards in the shop environment
- willingness to work with highly motivated students to ensure maximum success beyond graduation
- Experience in and ability to teach woodworking, plumbing, electrical, framing, tiling, and drywalling and an ability to create a scaffolded programming building skills across these unites of study.
- demonstrated ability to motivate, and provide success for struggling learners
- demonstrated ability to devise and use a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to demonstrate their learning
- demonstrated ability to consistently incorporate a wide range of effective classroom management strategies that maintain the dignity of students with an emphasis on a proactive approach
- demonstrated willingness to explore and implement concepts from the new curriculum including awareness of and experience working with the First Peoples Principles of Learning
- demonstrated commitment to a vertically aligned curriculum
- demonstrated commitment to the use of technology to enhance and leverage effective instructional practice and track student learning
- demonstrated commitment to use technology as part of a larger initiative to communicate consistently and effectively with parents
- demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for developing positive relationships with adolescents
- willingness to work in a collaborative manner with staff, administration, and parents
- demonstrated commitment to and engagement in lifelong professional and personal learning
