**Who are we?**
Smith and Long is leading the way in the Electrical, Mechanical, and Engineering sectors in Canada, combining the agility of a start-up with the capability to deliver large-scale, high-impact projects. As a Project Coordinator at Smith and Long, you will be at the forefront of overseeing and managing projects that push the boundaries of what’s possible, especially within the industrial and tunneling sectors.
**Note**: This position is considered an intermediate level role and will be based out of our Etobicoke office. As you gain experience, there will be opportunities to develop and grow into a Senior Project Coordinator role, advancing your career within the company.
**As our Project Coordinator, here is what you’ll be executing**:
- **Project Documentation & Execution**: Handle all documentation requirements for the successful execution of projects, ensuring accuracy and transparency throughout.
- **Project Progress Monitoring**: Track the progress of jobs, assist the Project Manager in monitoring project timelines, profitability, and budget adherence.
- **Client & Supplier Coordination**: Serve as a key point of contact with general contractors, suppliers, and internal teams, managing communication to ensure smooth project flow and escalation of any issues to the Project Manager.
- **Billing & Invoicing**: Create invoices and progress billing reports in a timely manner, ensuring any issues impacting collectability are flagged and escalated promptly.
- **Process Improvement**: Actively seek opportunities to improve activities, workflows, and tasks within your role and across the company.
- **Customer & Co-worker Support**: Respond to co-workers and customers quickly, providing updates on progress or delays and ensuring that quality work is delivered consistently.
- **Collaboration & Team Support**: Be a cooperative team player, providing additional support as needed to ensure the success of the team and projects.
**What You Bring to the Table**:
- **Project Management Experience**: At least one year of project management experience is required (tunneling industry experience is a plus).
- **Organizational Skills**: Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail, ensuring deadlines and standards are consistently met.
- **Communication Proficiency**: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills for effective communication with team members, contractors, suppliers, and customers.
- **Software Proficiency**: Familiarity with general office software such as Outlook, Word, and Excel; project management software knowledge is a bonus.
- **Team Collaboration**: A cooperative team player with the ability to step in and support colleagues when needed.
- **Attention to Quality**: A commitment to delivering quality work in everything you do, ensuring all tasks and projects are completed to the highest standards.
- **Problem-Solving Mindset**: A proactive approach to troubleshooting issues, resolving challenges efficiently, and ensuring projects stay on track.
**Preferred Skills (Nice to Haves)**:
- **Post-secondary Education (Asset)**: A background in Project Management or a related field is considered an asset.
- **Tunneling Experience**: Previous experience working in the tunneling industry or with industrial projects is highly desired.
- **Leadership Potential**: A desire to grow into more advanced roles such as Senior Project Coordinator or Project Manager in the future.
