**Job Summary**
Little Grouse on the Prairie is seeking a passionate and experienced **Head Chef** to lead our kitchen team and uphold our reputation for refined, ingredient-driven Italian cuisine. As a cornerstone in the Grassroots Restaurant Group, Little Grouse blends rustic Italian sensibility with prairie ingredients and contemporary technique. The Head Chef will be responsible for all aspects of kitchen operations, from menu development and sourcing to leading a team culture rooted in excellence, collaboration, and respect.

We’re looking for a culinary leader with deep respect for Italian food traditions, a keen sense of seasonality, and the creativity to evolve and elevate the guest experience.

**Responsibilities**
- Lead and oversee all kitchen operations with a focus on consistency, cleanliness, and culinary excellence
- Develop and execute innovative, seasonal menus inspired by Italian cuisine and local ingredients
- Manage food and labour costs, ensuring profitability while maintaining quality
- Collaborate with front-of-house management to ensure smooth, guest-focused service
- Mentor, train, and inspire a high-performing culinary team, fostering a culture of respect and growth
- Uphold all health and safety standards, ensuring compliance with food handling regulations
- Work closely with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients and build strong vendor relationships
- Maintain equipment, kitchen organization, and inventory systems to support efficient service

**Qualifications**
- Minimum 5 years of culinary experience
- Strong foundation in Italian cuisine and techniques preferred
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset
- Proven ability to manage inventory, food costs, and kitchen budgets
- A deep commitment to quality, detail, and continuous improvement
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
