We are looking to find a creative chef to lead the culinary side of our endeavour. We are a new business that is always changing and growing to embrace changing trends and seasonal ingredients. We are looking for someone looking with experience with menu creation, costing and time management to take this on with us. Cocktail opened September 2023 right in the heart of Broadway and we love being a part of the Broadway community. We have a close knit team of experienced bartenders and we pride ourselves on a fun work environment. We are a small bar, so big personalities really shine **Your Responsibilities**:

- Lead, mentor, and manage the culinary team.
- Develop and plan menus and weekly specials.
- Create prep lists for the kitchen crew.
- Manage food costs and inventory.
- Place orders routinely.
- Maintain standards for food storage, rotation, quality, and appearance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable health codes and regulations.
- Establish maintenance and cleaning schedules for equipment, storage, and work areas.
- Interview, vet, and select kitchen staff.
- Schedule staff and assist in human resources processes as needed.
- Maintain standards kitchen staff cleanliness, quality of work, and appearance.You will be working directly with developing the cocktail and food menus to compliment each other, so some background knowledge in cocktails is an asset. We make everything we can in house, so a breadth of experience in all cuisines is an asset. We change our menu a minimum of twice a year to reflect the seasons, so we are always experimenting and creating new items
- **Work Hours and Benefits**: Our hours are truly a treat, the cocktail scene really starts rocking around happy hour and so does our team, your days will likely start at about 1pm on weekdays. We expect our Chef to spend about 30hrs a week in the kitchen and around 10hrs a week on administration or any other errands that are needed. Hours can change at a moment’s notice and you are responsible for your own schedule

- Proven understanding of menu and recipe development techniques.
- Strong leadership abilities.
- Ongoing awareness of culinary trends.
- Understanding of health and sanitation laws.
- Excellent knife-handling skills.
- Applied wine and beverage knowledge.
- Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office.
- Previous kitchen management experience.
- Extremely strong communication skills

**Education and Experience Requirements**:

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Culinary Graduates preferred
- Experience in a sous chef or higher position
- 3-5 years’ experience in scratch kitchens
- A Valid driver’s license
- Food Haandler’s certification
- First Aid is an asset
