**Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience**:
- extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment
- knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators
- Bachelor of Science degree required, preference given to a Major or Minor in Physics with courses in Math
- Extensive experience in teaching Physics courses at the secondary school level (Physics 11/12) required
- Extensive academic training and qualifications in teaching Physics at the secondary school level
- Demonstrated competence in teaching science at the secondary school level using a strong focus on hands-on learning
- Demonstrated experience teaching Foundations of Math 11
- Demonstrated ability to devise a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to demonstrate what their learning
- Demonstrated commitment to professional learning in the Sciences and Math
- Demonstrated skills supporting and mentoring students with project-based learning where students can work individually or collaboratively on an in-depth learning experience
- Ability and commitment to indigenizing curriculum
- Ability to design lessons for a strong commitment to scientific literacy and numeracy development that promotes the ability to understand, critically analyze, and create a variety of forms of communication
- Ability to design curricular lesson and unit plans with a strong emphasis on the following three core competencies: communication, thinking, and personal and social competency
- Ability to design lessons with hands-on experiences in collaboration, critical thinking, and communication
- Demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for working, and developing positive relationships, with adolescents
- An exemplary work ethic with a proven ability to work as an effective team member
- Demonstrated ability to be a good communicator with parents, students, and other teaching staff
- Willingness to work in a collaborative manner with staff, administration and parents
