**Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience**:
- Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
- Bachelor's degree with English major preferred.
- Successful teaching experience in Secondary English and Art
- Demonstrated ability to employ a variety of instructional strategies to achieve the desired learning outcomes
- Successful experience in preparing students for Provincial Assessments
- Demonstrated capability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of the English Department and Fine Arts Department
- Knowledge of, and willingness to practice, all elements of the new reporting order, including using descriptive feedback for assessing and communicating student progress and learning
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and provide success for students who experience difficulties with learning and require additional support through student services
- Demonstrated ability to recognize, acknowledge, and plan for individual student differences and to adjust instructional practices accordingly
- Demonstrated experience in reading, contributing to, and fulfillment of Individual Education Plans
- Demonstrated experience with the UDL framework planning for access points and success for all learners
- Demonstrated experience with the RTI framework to support student learning
- Demonstrated experience and continued commitment to honoring First Peoples Principles of Learning and the Indigenization of curriculum
- Demonstrated ability to work in a trauma-informed capacity
- Demonstrated ability and energy to use a variety of instructional strategies to teach secondary students
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with staff in a team-oriented approach
- Demonstrated organizational, communication and classroom management skills
