**POSITION PURPOSE**

The Payroll Administrator is a Full Time Position in the Finance Department. The incumbent works closely with other members of the Finance and HR teams. This role is for preparing and processing semi-monthly payroll for a growing studio of 300+ employees using Payworks, BambooHR, and ShotGrid.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Encourage and motivate employees to complete time logs in a timely, accurate manner
- Monitor Payworks statutory remittances and reporting, including EI, CPP, taxation, Worksafe BC, and Extended Health Benefits
- Process employees expense reimbursements
- Prepare, reconcile and process T4s, ROEs and any other government returns that are not automated through Payworks
- Prepare payroll and benefit journal entries, reconcile and balance payroll and benefit accounts monthly
- Prepare payroll working papers and collect information required for audits
- Respond to and solve payroll inquiries
- Make recommendations for improvements and changes to payroll system procedures and processes, maintain and update payroll system manual
- Complete other duties as required to support the Finance team.
- Update the team on deadlines and tasks on a weekly basis
- Challenge the status quo to drive efficiencies and innovation
- Take direction from senior team members
- Create a positive and safe work environment
- Learn from mistakes and reflect to develop

**COLLABORATION**
- Support the finance team with administration tasks
- Assist with year-end audit requirements and prepare annual audit working papers and supporting documents
- Contribute to finance projects and initiatives
- Work closely with the production team to ensure information flows appropriately

**ADAPTABILITY**
- React professionally to feedback; reflect, be curious and adapt as is suitable
- React positively to changes in production
- Review existing workflows to identify where efficiencies can be made
- Remain up to date with the latest HR and animation industry trends
- Prioritize tasks appropriately and ask for help when needed

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum of 3 years full cycle payroll and benefits administration experience (_visual effects industry experience is an asset_) or combination of education and experience
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) (in progress or completion) preferred
- Strong understanding of Canadian Payroll Legislation and willingness to keep up to date
- Experience with Payroll Software (_Payworks payroll experience is an asset_)
- Excellent computer skills including Excel skills such as VLook-up and Pivot tables
- Proven ability to perform assigned functions with diligence and superior accuracy
- Handle confidential and sensitive employee information with professionalism
- Great time management skills and ability to meet tight and competing deadlines
- Knowledge of SAP ByDesign is an asset
