**Summary**

The Pay & Benefits Specialist will be accountable for overseeing, managing and administering payroll and benefits for 300- 500 non-unionized employees for Norseman Group, Norseman Structures, Norseman Inc. and Breathe Outdoors located in BC, AB, SK, ON. This includes programs such as group life, health, dental and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, leaves, and employee assistance.

**Job Duties**

Pay and Benefits

Serves as a corporate resource to the divisional offices for Payroll and Benefit related matters
- Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting payroll and benefits, ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
- Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
- Collaborates with accounting staff to ensure the accuracy of payroll and employee benefit postings to the general ledger
- Creates and maintains all coding and updates GLs for finance
- Participates in upcoming payroll conversion project

Payroll Administration
- Ensures payroll is processed on time and accurately
- Manages and administers all activities necessary to process hourly and salaried payrolls and ensures all legislative requirements are met
- Verifies timesheets and calculates overtime and vacation pay
- Calculates and prepares monthly sales commissions report
- Correspondence with payroll related government agencies and vendors (ie - CRA)
- Create and posts all pay related journal entries
- Processes new hires, employee changes, and terminations including Web ROE’s
- Reconciles and enters payroll data for finance department
- Prepares, reconciles and submits/files timely government reports (source deduction remittances, T4s)
- Reviews/audits bi-weekly hourly and salaried payroll reports to ensure accuracy
- Prepares ad hoc payroll reporting to management upon request
- Maintains information on taxable benefits and ensures proper adjustments are processed at year end
- Reconciles payroll GL accounts on a monthly basis, and PD7A’s on a quarterly basis
- Investigates and corrects GL account discrepancies
- Submits audit binder information and backup to the Controller for year-end processing

Benefits Administration
- Administers the company’s group benefits program and oversee disability management program
- Respond to queries regarding benefit enrollment, eligibility and claims matters
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs related to benefits
- Oversees the payroll and benefit related record keeping requirements

**Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in Payroll and Benefits (A PCP designation required)
- Previous experience with ADP WFN or similar program.
- 5-8+ years’ experience in Payroll and Benefits
- Solid knowledge of Accounting, payroll taxes, employee benefits
- Excellent customer service skills
- Critical thinking skills
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience with ERP operating systems and Crystal reports is an asset
- Flexibility and ability to multi-task effectively
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

**Work Conditions**
- Office setting, Monday through Friday, 8am - 4:30 with a 1/2 hr lunch, some hybrid flexibility may be considered
