PAYROLL AND BENEFITS SPECIALIST

Purpose
The goal of the Payroll and Benefits Specialist is to be responsible for the correct and timely coordination of payroll and benefits in North America, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations. Responsibilities will include payroll, timesheets, benefit maintenance, and reports. The role will also handle the HRIS (Dayforce) maintenance for open enrollments and benefits, data entry, system updates, and partake in the administrative portion of the annual compensation cycle and other programs.

**Responsibilities**:

- Processes North American biweekly and semi-monthly payrolls, ensuring complete accuracy and managing all calculations and adjustments. This includes reviewing and importing timesheets, administering garnishments, and ensuring proper tax withholding.
- Handles all month-end accruals and reports for multiple departments.
- Liaises closely with the Finance department to answer any inquiries, taxation issues, and resolve any GL inconsistencies.
- Researches and proposes resolution of any data conflicts that impact payroll processing.
- Responsible for year-end filing and annual productions (T4s, W4s, etc.)
- Conducts all regulatory reporting requirements (ACA, EE01 Reporting, etc.)
- Collects and provides supporting documentation for audits from internal and external auditors.
- Responsible for ROEs.
- Responsible for monthly benefits and pension reconciliation and accuracy of information between the HRIS system and the vendor files. This also includes COBRA enrollments and any cost center and GL adjustments.
- Assists yearly with the maintenance of the open enrollment module, checking accuracy of benefit changes, and updating configuration of the HRIS (Dayforce) system.
- Manages vendor relationships (Dayforce, UHC, Cigna, NY Life, etc.).
- Liaises with local P&C for disability administration, as needed for payroll purposes.
- Point of contact for all benefits, pension, and payroll inquiries from internal and external clients, including participating in new hire onboarding (Canada only), assisting with enrollments and life changes events, and all other general queries.
- Maintains and updates employee data/records in our HRIS system.
- Participates in P&C initiatives and works with the global PC& team to implement projects related to timesheets, payroll, and benefits.
- Keeps up with local legislature for North America, is always informed of the newest policies, and knows where to research and how to implement this information.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:
Education
- A college diploma in a related field is required
- A certificate in Payroll (PCP) is preferred
- Must be proficient in spoken and written English

Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience administering payroll in multiple jurisdictions is required (Texas and Alberta experience is preferred)
- Experience in HRIS data management is required (Dayforce preferred)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with benefits administration is required
- Demonstrates strong customer services and communication skills
- Demonstrates fine attention to detail, cultural sensitivity, and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel (includes knowledge of creating pivot tables
