**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is looking for a Research Project Coordinator. This is a full-time position reporting to the MCP Project Coordinator and responsible for supervising the Archival Researchers. The Coordinator will organize and direct the research team, assign specific schools and record sets, and ensure that all researchers have the resources needed to complete their work. The role includes responding to special requests from Survivors, families, and communities with care and respect, as well as contributing to the maintenance and verification of the Student Memorial and Death Registers. The Coordinator will also support the ongoing development of the NCTR digital collection and ensure adherence to archival procedures.
**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:
INDIGENOUS APPLICANTS PREFERRED. APPLICANTS MUST SELF-DECLARE ON THEIR COVER LETTER/RESUME AS INDIGENOUS (FIRST NATION, METIS AND/OR INUIT)
- Masters degree in a related discipline required
- Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification is required
- Class 5 Drivers license is an asset
- At least five years of relevant experience in university, community, government, Indigenous, private sector or professional administration, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role is required
- Knowledge of Indigenous history is required
- Previous experience working with Survivors, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, or Indigenous communities/organizations is required
- Track record of success in developing, reviewing, and implementing proposals for potential projects and programs is required
- Experience in using archival databases for the purpose of research is required
- Experience in using large data sets is required
- Proven experience managing team dynamics, resolving conflicts, and maintaining cohesion in high-pressure environments is required
- Experience in dealing effectively and diplomatically with senior members of an organization and the public is required
- Experience preparing, managing, administering, updating, and maintaining accurate project plans is required
- Experience providing senior management audiences with analyses, recommendations, and reports on projects is required
- Experience overseeing the performance of project team, unit, or department is required
- Experience with performance management is required
- Experience procuring goods and services is required
- Research experience is required
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles is required
- Knowledge of project management methods, standards and best practices (e.g. PMBOK®) is required
- Research with Indigenous communities and Indigenous methodologies is preferred
- Experience developing project management frameworks is an asset
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures is an asset
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Must be able to work within time and budget constraints
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills are required
- Superior organizational skills are required
- Superior verbal and written communication skills are required
- Proficiency in use of financial software and Microsoft Office software is required
- Excellent time management is required
- Demonstrated ability to oversee, coach, mentor, and hold diverse teams accountable in high-stress or emotionally demanding environments is required
- Strong competencies in Indigenous cultural awareness, knowledge, and protocols required
- Ability to plan, organize, and administer projects; conduct research independently; and identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency required
- Ability to train, supervise, and support the work of staff and students required
- Strong critical thinking and independent judgment skills, with demonstrated ability to identify and analyze complex issues, assess risks, and implement effective solutions and contingency plans required
- Ability to receive feedback, give and take direction, and seek clarification as needed is required
