Our very busy medical office is seeking for an enthusiastic **medical office assistant/ surgical counselor** with **very flexible working hours (including evening shifts)**, strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and team player.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT
- Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
- Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
- Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays.
- Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.
- Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
- Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; scheduling equipment service and repairs.
- Participate in the administrative staff meetings and provide suggestions for improvement
- Maintain hygiene in the entrance and waiting rooms
- Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
- Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Educating patients on surgery and surgical options, addressing fears, addressing financial concerns, scheduling patients for surgery, book patients on EMR and add them on cancellation lists as necessary

SURGICAL COUNSELOR:

- Giving patients paperwork to fill out, assisting patients with signing surgical consent and filling all the documents necessary for booking their surgery.
- Providing patients with pre
- and post-operative instructions.
- Managing surgical documents, gathering and inputting patients' information, putting together their surgical charts, calculating and ordering their intraocular lens
- Ensuring all surgical cases are scheduled in a timely manner with accuracy in accordance with the Physician or Surgeon's directions.

**The clinic is looking for someone who can work evening shifts.**

QUALIFICATIONS
- Intermediate to advanced phone skills; able to effectively relate via the telephone and in person to serve the needs of Clinic patients in a manner that is efficient and productive.
- Must be highly flexible; able to accommodate changing needs of the culture.
- Well
- developed verbal and written communication skills in English
- Knowledge of basic math and modern office procedures.
- Ability to work well under pressure with mínimal supervision. Proven flexibility and willingness to handle a variety of tasks.
- Basic to intermediate computer knowledge and skills
- Training and/or experience with computer data entry

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Medical Office Administrator course and at least one year of Medical Receptionist experience preferred

(minimum of 30 hours/ week)
