**Responsibilities**:

- Processing weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for all operations;
- Validating time sheets;
- Processing remittances for employee deductions including health, dental and RRSP benefits, statutory withholdings, unions, etc;
- Issuing records of employment and year end reporting including T4s and RL-1s;
- Administering new hire and termination processes;
- Maintaining up-to date employee information in the Payroll and Human Resources Information Systems;
- Responding to team member inquiries regarding payroll and benefits;
- Preparing journal entries related to payroll transactions;
- Interpreting and adhering to all company policies and government regulations relative to the payroll process;
- Participation in integration, testing and implementation of payroll system enhancements and special projects as required;
- Providing support to Accounting and Human Resources teams.

**Skills**:

- 3+ years of progressive experience in payroll, pension, and benefit administration;
- Knowledge of legislative and payroll policies/practices in Canada, especially in NL, QC, ON, NS, BC;
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation an asset;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines;
- Experience administering payroll for a unionized workforce;
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset;
