**Job Purpose**:
The HR Business Partner will provide exceptional service to proactively meet the needs of the business at a portfolio of locations. This role will be a trusted business partner and act as the first point of contact for all HR-related matters for the assigned portfolio.
As an analytical and client-focused HR professional, the HR Business Partner will assist management in determining their HR requirements, strategize to meet their business goals and outcomes, and endeavour to continually improve the delivery of HR services. Under the direction of the Manager of Human Resources and drawing on one’s HR expertise, the HR Business Partner will provide management and staff with the coaching and guidance necessary to resolve issues in a fair and consistent manner. The HR Business Partner will lead by example to foster a consultative and resolution-based approach to employee relations issues.
As a trusted business partner, the HR Business Partner will advise managers and employees on a wide variety of HR issues, including employee relations, orientation, compensation, workforce planning, organizational design, performance management, onboarding and training, talent attraction and management, and change initiatives.
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide coaching and support to leaders and employees on HR systems, processes, policies, procedures, and programs
- Process appropriate HR information system (HRIS) changes (hires, salary updates) and maintain employee personnel files
- Advise and counsel on human resources policies and procedures, employee relations, performance, labor and regulatory issues, federal and provincial legislation
- Participate in the design, development, implementation, administration and evaluation of human resource programs, policies and procedures relating to staffing, retention, training, compensation and benefits, rewards and recognition, and employee relations
- Support the annual performance and wage review process and creation of new job descriptions.
- Lead the Attendance Management Program towards improving employee engagement and attendance
- Provide coaching to leaders to support effective workplace relationships and increase skill level in employee management.
- Conduct investigations into breaches of policy and procedure.
- Lead special projects and other initiatives (e.g., employee engagement, performance and capability improvement, attraction, and retention initiatives).
- Advise managers and supervisors on issues relating to conflict management, performance and attendance issues, employee relations
- Manage activities related to terminations
- Other duties as assigned
**Requirements**:
Technical
- 5 to 8 years’ experience as a Human Resources generalist with minimum of 2 years experience with employee relations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- CPHR designation or current pursuit of designation
- Proven ability to practice excellent active-listening skills and successfully resolve conflict.
- Strong influence, facilitation and negotiation skills.
- Effective planning, organization and time management skills.
- Sound computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and HRIS database software.
- Previous supervisory experience an asset
- Experience working in a unionized environment an asset
