**General Responsibility**
The Language Programs Assistant will assist the Language Program management, admin, and instructors, who provide support to newcomer and refugee clients in learning English language, meeting their daycare needs in local communities, and integrating into Canadian society.
**Responsibilities**:
**The Role**:
- Assist newcomer and refugee clients with onsite registration and complete the necessary steps in the registration process.
- Accurately create, revise, process, and manage documents such as student files, and attendance records.
- Be trained as a CHAD (internal database) user to manage daily tasks, including but not limited to entering, maintaining and updating newcomer and refugee student information, reviewing and inputting attendance records, as well as enrolling or exiting students as necessary.
- Communicate with newcomer and refugee students regarding attendance reminders and ensure their consistent attendance.
- Collaborate with the LINC administrative team and the Community-Based Care for Newcomer Children Program Team to support students' childcare needs.
- Assist in coordinating cultural events such as new student orientations, professional development days, field trips, LINC staff meetings, room bookings, passes, and promotional activities.
- Provide administrative support to program administrators as needed
**Qualifications & Requirements**:
- Preference will be given to those students who identify as disabled, Indigenous, black/racialized youth, or 2SLGBTQI+.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
- Flexible and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Excellent team player and communication skills
- Fluent in other languages is an asset
- Culturally competent, familiar with serving clients from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent verbal and written communications, listening and customer service skills;
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and satisfactory Driver’s Abstract.

Contract length: 8 weeks
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
