The **Human Resources Generalist**provides a range of HR services in support of South East Health Unit’s vision, mission and strategic priorities. Under the direction of the Manager, HR & OD, the HR Generalist acts as an advisor, responding to a variety of HR questions and concerns from management, and staff regarding collective agreements, policies, and practices. They support a number of portfolios including recruitment and selection, salary and benefits administration, administration of leaves, onboarding, disability management, health and safety, training, time and attendance support, and general HR administration (e.g. human resources data/records).

As a main point of contact, they provide excellent Human Resources customer service while balancing competing demands. They provide input on policies and projects, support merger activities, and they may participate on corporate committees as needed. They may also provide support across various SEHU locations and teams.

**Responsibilities Include**:

- Coordinate recruitment and selection activities including drafting of internal and external postings, coordination of interviews and support with selection and offers.
- Ensure the efficient and accurate processing of HR transactions including new hires, transfers, leaves, and departures in the HRIS with related documentation.
- Process updates to HR data including salary changes, benefit elections, and time and attendance in support of bi-weekly payroll processing.
- Administer leaves, benefits (enrollments, changes and exits), and salary changes within HRIS and benefit provider portals (OMERS, Sun Life, etc.).
- Support the on-boarding of new staff, those returning from leaves, and students.
- Assist with labour relations, including general inquiries, seniority lists, and compiling data for collective bargaining.
- Assist with disability management and return to work processing, including working with external providers (STD, LTD, WSIB).
- Act as an advisor to managers and staff regarding collective agreements, policies, and legislation.
- Assist with the development and update of HR policies and programs.
- Participate in corporate meetings and sit on committees as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education**
- Post secondary education in Human Resources Management (3-year diploma) or related field.
- Human Resources designation (CHRP/CHRL) is preferred.
- Payroll or Benefits designation, or certification in Disability Management, Diversity & Inclusion or other related areas is an asset.

**Experience**
- 5 years of HR generalist experience performing a variety of functions including recruitment and selection, health and safety, benefits and salary administration, disability management, leaves administration, and HR data maintenance.
- Experience in a unionized and public sector setting considered an asset.
- Previous experience in payroll is an asset.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Clear understanding of relevant legislation (ESA, Human Rights Code, AODA, OH&S, etc.) and HR best practices.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with tact and diplomacy.
- Strong initiative with good judgement.
- Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent computer skills including with MS Office and HRIS software.
- Knowledge or experience using Ceridian Dayforce considered an asset.
- Commitment to continuous learning.
- Immunizations must be up-to-date and maintained in compliance with all applicable policies.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check.

**Contract Duration**:
This position will start immediately and continue up to August of 2026.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 16 months

Pay: $40.33-$47.58 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
