The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto’s residence at 2 O’Connor Drive is home to 58 Sisters who are members of the Congregation. The residence includes 22 units for assisted living and 35 infirmary units providing 24/7 nursing for long term, rehabilitation, convalescent and palliative care. The infirmary is operated under the Private Hospitals Act.
Reporting to the Administrator and Director of Care, the Manager, Clinical Care ensures high quality and exceedingly compassionate clinical care for each resident by providing leadership, oversight and direction to all Care Centre staff, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met, resources are deployed effectively, while the Congregation’s Philosophy of Care is upheld. With support from the Administrator and Director of Care, direct reports, allied health, and our Physician/Medical Director, the Manager is responsible for the overall nursing care services provided to all of the residence.
This is a unique opportunity to work with extraordinary women who, themselves, have been educators, health care and non-profit social service administrators, and exemplars in serving others. **Overview**
The Sisters of St. Joseph is a Roman Catholic Congregation of women religious responding to the call to serve others. They strive to be in union with God and their neighbour. Their beginnings can be traced back 350 years to France.
The spirit that drives the Sisters of St. Joseph was inspired by Jesus’ invitation “to love God and to love our neighbour.” It is a spirituality of relationship with God, with others and with the earth, expressed, among other ways, through prayer and service.
**Organizational Structure**
Reporting to the Administrator and Director of Care providing leadership, oversight and direction to the nursing staff at the residence, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met, resources are deployed effectively, the Congregation’s Philosophy of Care is upheld, and a home-like atmosphere is maintained.
**Position Overview**
The purpose of the position is the provision of exceptional nursing leadership that will ensure high quality and exceedingly compassionate clinical care for each resident. The Manager must uphold the organization’s Philosophy of Care, while ensuring that all nursing staff practice within this framework.
**Reporting and Relationships**
- The Manager, Clinical Care reports to the Administrator and Director of Care.
- The Manager, Clinical Care will work in collaboration with the Local Leader and the Physician/Medical Director, providing support as required.

- Administrative Coordinator, Nursing and Health Records
- Infection Control Nurse
- Registered Nurses
- Registered Practical Nurses
- Personal Support Workers
- The following staff work in direct collaboration with the Manager, Clinical Care:
- Physician/Medical Director
- Dietician
- Occupational Therapist
- Physiotherapist
- Life Enrichment Programming Manager
- Pharmacist
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Professional Practice**:
- Ensures nursing policies, practice and documentation are compliant with current organizational, College and all legislative requirements. Updates Nursing and Policy and Procedures manual.
- Make certain that nursing care plans for each resident are created, documented, communicated and implemented consistently with the philosophy of care, preserving each Sister’s dignity, uniqueness and personal needs.
- Leads and oversees the ongoing implementation of nursing best practices and collaborates with peers to achieve overall best practices in all departments.
- Arranges opportunities for staff education, training and professional development.
- Confirms that all Registered Nurses are in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses.
**Quality and Safety**:
- Ensures adequate coordination, orientation and support for all new residents.
- In collaboration with the Administrator and Director of Care, and the inter-professional care team, develops and implements goals and action plans for the Care Centre and Residence which are consistent with the annual operating plan.
- Attends rounds and care conferences for each resident.
- Works with staff and the inter-professional care team to identify areas of quality and safety requiring evaluation and/or improvement.
- Participates as a key member of the Quality and Safety Committee.
- Participates as a key member of the Infection Control Committ
