About the PositionThe Finance Team is currently seeking an Accounts Payable Specialistto join our team. The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining the Accounts Payable (AP) process for the organization. The role requires a strong attention to detail, highly organized, time management skills, a commitment to weekly/monthly schedules and a strong internal control focus ensuring all finance policies are being adhered too.The Finance department is part of our Corporate Services Group. This group is a team of service-minded individuals who are passionate about developing and implementing smart, customer-focused business processes. This team serves multiple internal customers and comprises key business enablers and trusted business partners who deliver superior customer service through collaboration, innovation, partnerships, and leadership, ensuring the best possible user experience. In alignment with Explore Edmonton's needs, services include providing governance advice and support, offering scalable business solutions, and creating value for employees by building and facilitating connections across the organization.The successful candidate will be responsible for:Verifying vendor invoices and processing POs in the accounting system ensuring all backup High volume data entry in compliance with financial policies and procedures Coordinating with internal staff to obtain approvals for invoices Processing cheques, EFT and PAD paymentsLeading weekly and monthly schedules relating to AP process Managing and maintaining the AP email inbox Monthly reconciliation of the AP subledger to GLResolving discrepancies as needed Assisting in month end close Reconciling vendor statements Creating positive vendor relationshipProcessing vendor credit appsNegotiating with vendors for any dependencies on statementsMaintaining electronic and paper files Documenting processes and procedures Handling incoming mail and distributing as required Updating internal filesAd hoc duties as requiredThe successful candidate will have:Accounting Degree or Diploma3-5 years of related experienceStrong attention to detail and accurate data entry skillsUnderstanding of basic Accounting conceptsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrentlyAbility to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, external agencies and stakeholders Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel Experience in Net Suite is an assetAbout UsWe are Edmonton’s Destination Management and Marketing Organization (DMMO).
