Unit SummaryThe Regional Geriatric Program Central (RGPc) located at Hamilton Health Sciences St. Peter's Hospital, is affiliated with McMaster University and sponsored by Hamilton Health Sciences. The RGPc is defined as: “a comprehensive, coordinated system of health services for the elderly within a region” with the objective of: “assisting the elderly to live independently in their own communities thereby preventing unnecessary and inappropriate institutionalization” (Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care). Areas of focus include: education and capacity building, knowledge exchange and translation, service improvement, collaboration, and research and evaluation.Position SummaryReporting directly to the RGPc Manager, the RGPc Program Secretary role provides full confidential administrative support to the RGPc Manager, Chair and other disciplines including the Education Coordinator as required. The Program Secretary is responsible for organizing schedules, files, reviewing budgets, running statistical reports, checking for accuracy, problem solving when issues arise and supporting human resources matters. The Program Secretary supports management of activity associated with RGPc educational offerings (workshops and events) includingscheduling, managing registration, preparing documents and reports, and engaging with partners and learners. The Program Secretary also manages updates to the RGPc Website (www.rgpc.ca) using Wordpress content management system. The Program Secretary develops and maintain good working relationships with all members of the department and affiliated program personnel. Graduate of Community College Business Secretarial Program2. Minimum 2 years current related experience3. Excellent computer skills in a variety of applications including Microsoft Office, Payroll, Taleo, Budget Tool4. Demonstrated ability to meet project and task deadlines, excellent organizational skills and effective problem solvingabilities5. Knowledge and experience with Wordpress content management system6. Knowledge and experience with human resources processes related to new hires and staff transfers7. Excellent transcription and minute-taking abilities8. Demonstrated ability to create and maintain various databases and generate reports from these databases9. Proficient keyboarding skills (60 wpm)10. Demonstrated excellence in effective communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and problem-solving skills11. Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative, organize and establish priorities12. Demonstrated ability to develop systems that create efficient work flow13. Demonstrated ability to appreciate confidential nature of position14.
