The Opportunity

To support the continued growth of the Deveraux Group of Companies, we are seeking to fill the position of Controller. The current holder of the role will remain with the organization and will be available to ensure a seamless handover of responsibilities. Reporting to the VP of Finance, Finance and Investments, the Controller is responsible for all aspects of the accounting and reporting function, as well as the internal controls and tax compliance for Deveraux Asset Management Inc. and a number of other entities within our group. The Controller will be an exceptional people and process leader who understands the value in mentoring his/her team in a high energy and fast paced atmosphere. The ideal candidate is someone who consistently delivers results and is always motivated to improve. He/she needs to thrive as a dedicated team member and be willing to jump in and help the team in order to move things forward.

  • CPA designation
  • 8+ years experience, with 3+ years in public accounting
  • 3+ years experience managing and developing a team

You will...
  • Direct and manage all accounting operations to ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and management reporting
  • Manage year-end external audit process, ensuring that external financial statements are properly recorded in accordance with the reporting framework
  • Ensure tax filings, including value added tax filings, are in compliance with applicable legislation
  • Monitor cash flows and the collection of receivables and payment of payables
  • Interact with financial institutions and monitor banking activities of the organization
  • Develop and maintain an internal control structure which ensures that the integrity of financial information
  • Lead finance improvement projects, including automations, enhancements and simplifications
  • Maintain investor relationships, managing and directing all inquiries and deliverables
  • Lead, manage and mentor accounting team
