Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Secretary to provide administrative support within a healthcare team setting. The successful candidate will maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff by adhering to safety policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and respond to calls from patients and other sources, referring calls to other parties as necessary.
  • Coordinate appointments and tests for patients in collaboration with the clinical team.
  • Access patient information systems to retrieve patient data.
  • Arrange meetings and conferences, preparing agendas and distributing minutes.
  • Open, screen, prioritize, and distribute mail, maintaining information and correspondence.
  • Assist with collecting, collating, formatting, and preparing reports as required.
  • Participate as a collaborative member of the healthcare team.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 graduation from a recognized secretarial program, including a recognized course in medical transcription, and three years' recent related experience.
  • Ability to keyboard at 50 wpm.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize work and operate related equipment.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action and other related reports.
