Job Summary

The City of Kelowna is seeking a highly skilled Crime Review Officer to provide quality assurance audits of police investigational files. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying accurate and detailed classification of file scoring as required by the Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics (CCJS).

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing operational police investigative files to ensure compliance with legal obligations and policy requirements.
  • Analyzing information, seeking clarification, and identifying deficiencies to request corrective action.
  • Coaching RCMP cadets on quality assurance issues and assisting in identifying training requirements.
  • Preparing and delivering effective presentations on training and information sessions.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Operational Statistical Reporting (OSR), Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR), Criminal Code of Canada, Federal and Provincial statutes, RCMP databases, and RCMP organizational chart.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance.
