About the Role

The University of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Donor Engagement to join its Advancement team. As a key member of the leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to foster strong relationships with donors and stakeholders, ultimately driving fundraising efforts for the University.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of donor stewardship, events, and database professionals to provide support to fundraisers for all fundraising activities, including major gifts and annual giving.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize fundraising, programming, and engagement goals of the Advancement team.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with donors, stakeholders, and faculty members to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide leadership and professional advice to the Dean, Vice-Deans, and Executive Director, Advancement, on matters related to donor engagement, fundraising, and stakeholder relations.
  • Manage and track sub-budgets, and provide regular reports to the Executive Director, Advancement.
  • Collaborate with the Division of University Advancement and University Relations to foster strong, collaborative relationships.
Requirements
  • University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years' experience in an advancement role, preferably in a university environment in a senior portfolio.
  • Experience developing and executing multi-faceted donor and stakeholder relations programs.
  • Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively under pressure, with a proven track record of working effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
