We are seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at AGF Rebar Inc. in the Halifax, NS region.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating health and safety activities for our shop and construction sites.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement H&S programs, policies, procedures, prevention programs, and action plans;
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections to ensure safety rules are followed and equipment is used properly;
  • Investigate accidents and hazardous situations, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions;
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and managers;
  • Support return-to-work plans for employees on occupational disability leave;
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness plans and participate in risk assessments;
  • Lead health and safety committee meetings and track H&S indicators;
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A professional diploma in health and safety;
  • Understanding of current Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations;
  • Ability to travel regularly to construction sites in the region (approximately 3-4 times per year);
  • Bilingualism in English and French (although not essential)

We offer a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as:
