Clerical Support Specialist for Regional Programs
BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services is seeking a skilled Clerical Support Specialist to join our team in Nanaimo, BC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transcribe medical dictation, including correspondence and reports, to Court, Review Board, and clinical reports, notes, and correspondence according to pre-set format, protocols, and deadlines.
- Provide reception services, including operating a multi-line reception switchboard, responding to inquiries, taking/relaying messages, and redirecting callers to appropriate personnel.
- Process referrals and enter client data into computer systems, databases, and other software programs under the direction of the Supervisor.
- Maintain client charts according to established procedures, including receiving documentation, creating clinical records, and ensuring material is labeled with patient information.
- Maintain schedules and perform event and program tracking, including logging into and reviewing electronic calendars/schedules and monitoring upcoming deadlines and appointment dates.
Requirements:
- Grade 12, graduation from an approved program in medical transcription, and one (1) year recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to keyboard at 60 wpm, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position and ability to organize work.
