We are looking for a Labour Relations Specialist to join our Human Resources team. This role will play a key part in supporting labour relations processes, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and fostering positive workplace experiences.
The successful candidate will bring expertise in coordinating grievance and arbitration processes, supporting investigations, and managing confidential employee relations matters. They will be able to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment.
This role involves providing support on a variety of labour/employee relations issues including labour and employment law, HR policies and practices, performance management, attendance management, grievance and dispute resolution, progressive discipline, organizational changes, and the administration and interpretation of the Collective Agreement.
The Labour Relations Specialist will track, coordinate, and support Labour Relations through the grievance and arbitration processes. They will also support the Employer at grievances, investigations, committee meetings, disciplinary meetings, arbitrations, and collective bargaining sessions, as needed.
Duties include drafting employee communications pertaining to Collective Agreement administration, reviewing bargaining unit, exempt, and management employee questions, concerns, issues, complaints, and coordinating a timely response by the Labour Relations team.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in human resources within a unionized environment. They will have a diploma in business (or equivalent) with a major in Human Resources. A solid understanding of B.C.'s Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Code, and Human Rights Code is required.
