Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Relations Specialist to join our team at the BCGEU. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in developing and implementing effective communication strategies to promote organizational values and goals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Developing Communication Strategies: Create and implement comprehensive public relations plans to promote the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Media Relations: Manage all media inquiries, prepare press releases, and organize press conferences to effectively communicate the organization's message.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance, direction, and support to Communications team members to ensure seamless execution of tasks and projects.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a public relations or media relations role, preferably in a union or advocacy organization.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling speeches, press releases, and other communications materials.
