Portfolio Manager, Commercial Finance Specialist

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a skilled Portfolio Manager to join our Commercial Finance team at Equitable Bank. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial mortgages, providing exceptional customer service, and making sound underwriting decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service and Relationship Management
Provide superior customer service to assigned relationships, negotiating and completing renewals, refinances, extensions, assumptions, annual reviews, and ad-hoc requests in a timely and efficient manner.
Sub-Advance Review and AnalysisReview on-going sub-advance requests prepared by the Commercial Analyst, ensuring that projects remain on schedule and on budget. Identify and mitigate risks associated with individual transactions, and work closely with lending partners to address cost overruns.
Credit Risk ManagementEnsure that credit risk associated with your portfolio of mortgages is controlled and within approved guidelines. Assess credit documentation thoroughly, and submit recommendations in compliance with the Bank's delegated authority limits.
Communication and CollaborationCommunicate effectively with internal contacts, including management, originations, funders, coordinators, and other stakeholders to ensure that all transactions and ad-hoc requests meet prescribed deadlines in a timely and efficient manner.
Reporting and Special ProjectsPrepare specific reports on assigned categories required for the department/Company, which will be relied upon by Senior Management. Contribute to special projects as assigned from time to time.
Requirements- Education
Post-secondary education in business or finance is preferred.
Language SkillsBilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset.
ExperienceProficient underwriting skills with a minimum 2-4 years' commercial mortgage experience.
Knowledge and SkillsWorking knowledge of AML/ATF regulations and Corporate/Legal documentation for commercial real estate in multiple jurisdictions across Canada. Sound technical knowledge of commercial real estate underwriting, financial statement analysis, and factors affecting the commercial mortgage market. Good working knowledge of MS Office (primarily Word and Excel). Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities. Strong negotiation skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve goals. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate to Senior Management and Partners in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
