Hamilton Regional Indian Centre is a large Indigenous not-for-profit organization that prioritizes cultural sensitivity and community involvement.

We are seeking an experienced Addiction Program Specialist to join our team, contributing to the development, implementation, and maintenance of our Indigenous Drug and Alcohol program. As a specialist in this role, you will work closely with the Executive Director or Designate to ensure the program meets the local area's drug and alcohol needs through promotion, prevention, and treatment initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive addiction programs for the Indigenous community, focusing on prevention, treatment, and support services.
  • Collaborate with community service providers to ensure seamless delivery of services and optimize program effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate records and data, analyzing trends and insights to inform program improvements.
  • Foster strong relationships with community members, Elders, and Traditional Knowledge Keepers to enhance program credibility and success.

Requirements:

  • A 2-year College diploma in Indigenous Studies, Social Service work, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in the field of addictions.
  • Experience working within an Indigenous organization is essential.
  • Proven ability to plan, develop, implement, facilitate, collect data, and evaluate programs.
  • Knowledge of First Nations Language and Culture Traditions is vital.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the community and as part of a team.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary of $65,000 - $75,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
